SENATE CONFIRMS MR. SYLVESTER NWAKUCHE AS COMTROLLER-GENERAL, NIGERIAN CORRECTIONAL SERVICE                                                                   25-03-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                     The Senate has confirmed Mr. Sylvester Nwakuche as Comtroller-General, Nigerian Correctional Service.(NCoS).

The confirmation was sequel to the consideration and adoption of a report of the Committee on Interior after screening, presented by the chairman, Adams Oshiomhole during plenary in Abuja.

Senator Oshiomhole told the legislators that the committee, while conducting the screening, scrutinized the credentials and ability of the nominee to be appointed as Comtroller-General of NCoS.

He said the committee found the nominee as one with an impeccable character full of exposure, experience, intellectual energy, drive and worthy of the appointment.

Senator Oshiomhole said the nominee had held various positions in the service and had benefited from training and re-training as an officer of the NCoS.

He said there was no petition against the nominee, saying that he displayed a great deal of intellect at screening exercise.

Senator Oshiomhole urged the senate to approve the appointment of the nominee.

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio after a voice vote approval, congratulated Nwakuche, expressing hope that his confirmation would spur him to greater service

He commended the committee for the screening exercise conducted on the nominee, saying that his confirmation was coming at a difficult era of jail breaks, expressing hope that the issues would come to an end.
