NSCDC DEPLOYS 4,000 PERSONNEL TO SECURE FCT AHEAD OF EID-EL-FITR CELEBRATIONS                                                                                                          28-03-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                     In a bid to ensure the safety of lives, property, and critical national assets, the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, has ordered the deployment of 4,000 personnel across the territory ahead of the Eid-Fitr celebrations.

The deployment, which spans all nooks and crannies of the FCT, is aimed at maintaining security before, during, and after the festivity.

Officers from specialized units such as the Female Strike Force, Arms Squad, Operation Adkasu, Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI), Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Explosives (CBRNE), and Counter-Terrorism have been strategically assigned to various locations.

Security presence has been reinforced in vulnerable areas and soft targets, including prayer grounds, shopping malls, recreational centers, markets, motor parks, amusement parks, the City Gate, the Three Arms Zone, government buildings, and diplomatic offices. The deployment also extends to critical national infrastructure to prevent any security threats.

In a proactive move to forestall emergencies and unforeseen incidents, undercover operatives have already been deployed for covert surveillance.

Security coverage has also been extended to identified black spots, including uncompleted buildings that may serve as hideouts for criminals, to prevent breaches.

According to statement by the NSCDC FCT PRO Monica Ojobi, Commandant Odumosu has issued strict directives to all Area Commanders and Divisional Officers, mandating them to take full control of their jurisdictions and ensure their presence is felt across all Area Councils.

“All hands must be on deck. I will not tolerate any security lapses. Ensure your personnel are adequately deployed,” he instructed.

He further emphasized the need for professionalism, urging officers to work in synergy with other security agencies while adhering strictly to the rules of engagement.
