By Sadiq Aminu                                                       A yet-to-be-identified pregnant woman has been discovered hanging lifelessly on a cashew tree in a lonely place in Anambra State.

She was discovered by some residents in a nearby bush along Uke- Ideani road in Idemili North local government area of the state.

The gory video of the deceased dangling with a rope on her neck has continued to generate reactions among social media users.

The video suggested that the lady who appeared pregnant may have committed suicide as her phone and slippers were seen on the ground while she dangles on top the tree.

However, her identity could not be ascertained as at the time of filling this report as the eye witnesses who discovered her could not view her face as she clings the tree.

Meanwhile, the Police Command in Anambra state has commenced investigations to unravel the mystery surrounding the incident as contained in a press statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer Mr Tochukwu Ikenga.

It says the Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu on the 6th May 2025 called on stakeholders and community leaders of Idemili North local government area to assist with information to unravel the perpetrators of the suspected murder of the pregnant lady.

According to the statement, Mr Orutugo described the incident as unfortunate and a stark example of “man’s inhumanity to man and ordered a thorough investigation into the incident to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

To this end, the command calls on members of the public to help identify the deceased, as Police Operatives from Ogidi Police Division have recovered the body and deposited it in the mortuary.
