NSCDC COMMANDANT GENERAL LAUNCHES DISTRIBUTION OF 140 SECURITY VEHICLES, 50 MASS TRANSIT BUSES IN ZAMFARA 13-05-25
By Sadiq Aminu The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Abubakar Ahmad Audi, has flagged off the distribution of 140 operational security vehicles provided by the Zamfara State Government for various security agencies operating in the state.
The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to enhance security across the region.
Speaking at the launch ceremony held at the Trade Fair Complex in Gusau, Dr. Audi described the event as a historic milestone in the fight against insecurity in the state.
The Commandant General, who was the Special Guest of Honour at the event, also commissioned 50 buses for mass transit to improve the state’s transportation system.
Dr. Audi commended Governor Dauda Lawal for the gesture, called on other governors to emulate such efforts to support security agencies in their operations.
“We are assembled here today to witness the commissioning and launch of these operational vehicles for security agencies by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Zamfara State. We are fully aware of the security challenges in Nigeria, particularly in the North-West and North-East, where we face a serious asymmetric conflict,” he said.
He described asymmetric conflict as one resembling guerrilla warfare, where criminals strike unexpectedly, cause significant damage, and then retreat.
Dr. Audi emphasized the need for security agencies to adopt both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies to tackle insecurity effectively.
“Today, we are here to distribute these vehicles to support security operations in order to bring this conflict to a standstill. The cooperation, collaboration, and coordination among all security agencies is essential. We must work together, develop comprehensive strategies, and synergize to deliver lasting peace,” he stated.
He further assured that security agencies are committed to joint efforts and coordination to ensure the safety of Nigerians.
“We are confident that with these interventions and a united front, we are moving closer to ending this conflict. We thank the Governor for his unwavering support and urge him not to relent in providing the necessary assistance to security agencies,” Dr. Audi added.
Ealier, Zamfara State Governor, Dr. Dauda Lawal, reaffirmed that, security remains the top priority of his administration since assuming office nearly two years ago.
He emphasized that, his government fully understands the complex nature of the security challenges confronting Zamfara which necessitated a proactive and strategic approach to support security agencies.
“Our administration recognizes that, providing operational vehicles, will significantly improves mobility, enhances response time, and strengthens the overall effectiveness of our security forces in combating crime and maintaining law and order,” he stated.
He described the vehicle distribution as a continuation of his government’s consistent efforts to bolster the capacity of security agencies operating across the state.
“This initiative further demonstrates our unwavering commitment to empowering security personnel in their duty to protect lives and secure communities. We recognize their critical role in maintaining law and order, which is essential to building a safe and prosperous Zamfara State,” the governor added.
Governor Lawal stressed that his administration remains fully dedicated to equipping and supporting security agencies to enable them to discharge their responsibilities effectively.
In a major announcement, the governor also revealed the establishment of the newly operational Safe Corridor Northwest. He disclosed that his administration has handed over a facility to serve as the regional headquarters for the initiative.
“This will serve as a strategic hub for coordinated security operations across the Northwest region,” he said.
Some of the dignitaries attended including Speaker Zamfara State House of Assembly, Commissioners representative of AIG of Police and other security agencies.
Highlights of the events including the presentation of the vehicles to the representatives of the head of various security agencies among others.
