MAAUN SHUTS DOWN FEMALE STUDENTS HOSTEL                                                                                                  12-05-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                      The Management of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, MAAUN, has ordered the immediate closure and withdrawal of approval in respect of Al-Ansar Indabo female students hostels located at Hotoro and UDB Road in Kano metropolis.

A statement by the Vice President Campus Live, Dr. Hamza Garba , said the closure of the hostels was part of the effort being made by the university management to ensure safe, secure and decent hostel accommodation for students as well as to maintain its stance on zero tolerance for any form of immorality from any student of the university.

“I am directed by the Management to write, inform and bring to the attention of our esteemed parents/students that the university has withdrawn its approval for AL-ANSAR INDABO FEMALE STUDENTS HOSTELS located at UDB Road and Hotoro respectively,” it said.

According to the statement, the measure became necessary due to non-compliance with university’s rules and regulations governing the operation of private hostels.

“The non-compliance resulted to some unwanted situation and activities in the hostel such as immoral activities, insufficient water and power supply, students violences, unauthorized students movement late at night and sharing facilities with unknown tenants, among others, posing a serious threat to the wellbeing of our students.

“Accordingly, all affected students are strongly directed to vacate the hostel immediately after the completion of fall semester examination and avoid further association for your safety and security, while the management is collaborating with relevant security agencies to ensure total compliance,” the statement said.

Furthermore, parents and students are adviced to reach out to the university through the office of the Vice President Campus Life for approved, secure and decent hostel accommodation or through the following email address: vp-campuslife@maaun.ed.ng

The statement urged both students and parents to note that the university Management will not be responsible for anything that may happen as a result of non-compliance with the order.
