United in Compassion: A Grateful Tribute to Supporters of the Mokwa Flood Relief Effort

In the wake of the devastating flood that struck Mokwa in Niger State, countless lives were disrupted, properties lost, and communities displaced. Amid the hardship, a remarkable outpouring of support came from various quarters, a demonstration of solidarity and shared responsibility that brought relief and renewed hope to the affected people.
At the forefront of the response was the Federal Government, which provided an extraordinary ₦2 billion and 20 truckloads of grains to support the victims of the disaster.
This substantial intervention not only addressed immediate humanitarian needs but also laid a solid foundation for long-term recovery efforts.
Complementing this effort was the intervention of Ahmed Suleiman, the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, who oversaw the delivery of an impressive 6,000 trailers of rice to the flood-affected areas, a move that significantly boosted food security during the emergency phase.
Among the top contributors was Hajiya Fatima Bago, Wife of the Governor of Niger State, who donated ₦50 million. Her compassion and leadership have been widely acknowledged and appreciated by the people of Mokwa.
Other notable supporters who contributed ₦50 million each include 313 and Abu Lolo, whose efforts were instrumental in delivering critical supplies and services during the peak of the crisis.
Further contributors included:
Peter Obi, Malagi, Niger Food, and SMA each donating ₦20 million, helping to bridge essential relief efforts such as food distribution, healthcare, and temporary shelter.
The Commissioners’ Forum, which collectively contributed ₦6 million, underscoring the unity and responsiveness within the state’s leadership structure.
Joshua Gana and Sani Legbo Kutigi, who each donated ₦5 million, providing much-needed support to families who lost homes and livelihoods.
Additional appreciated contributions include:
Rabiu Sadiq Dabban – ₦3.5 million
Hon. Zakari Kinbokun – ₦2.5 million
Peter Ndalikali and Ketso – ₦2 million each
Alhaji Adamu Kupanti – ₦1 million e.t.c
Together, these contributions formed the backbone of a comprehensive relief effort that reached thousands of affected individuals and families.
The people of Mokwa, through community leaders and traditional institutions, have expressed their deep gratitude to all those who stood by them in their time of need. Their appreciation extends beyond the material donations it is a recognition of the empathy, leadership, and commitment shown by all contributors.
