PDP ACTING NATIONAL CHAIRMAN, DAMAGING DISOWNS THE COMMENTS BY THE PARTY’S NATIONAL PUBLICITY SECRETARY, MR. DEBO OLOGUNAGBA                                                               24-06-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                          The crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has worsened as the Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum has disowned the comments by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Debo Ologunagba that the PDP does not need the approval of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to hold its 100th National Executive Committee, NEC meeting.

The PDP had slated the controverted NEC meeting for the 30th of this month.

Mr. Ologunagba had told the media on Sunday that the NEC meeting of the PDP will be held as scheduled with or without the approval of INEC.

But, in a reaction, the acting National Chairman, Ambassador Damagum explained that the comments of Mr. Ologunagba was made without the authority or approval of the National Working Committee, NWC of the party.

Ambassador Damagum, in a statement pointed out that the comments made by Mr. Ologunagba were made prematurely and without due consultation, especially as a meeting has already been scheduled between the party leaders, stakeholders, and the Chairman of INEC to address the concerns raised in a letter sent by the commission to the the PDP.
