YOBE STATE GOVERNMENT CALLS ON REA TO SUPPORT IT’S POST INSURGENCY RECOVERY PROGRAMME                                                                                         27-06-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                     Yobe State Governor Mai-Mala Buni has urged the Rural Electrification Agency to support the state’s post insurgency recovery programme.

Briefing newsmen after the Yobe State
Energy Sector Investment and Partnership Roundtable in Abuja, the governor stated that the support should include 20 distribution transformers and 1,000 solar street lights.

Mai-Mala Buni said his administration has made substantial investments in expanding energy access and promoting renewable solutions to create a conducive environment for private investments in the state.

This he said includes the electrification of over four hundred communities and the procurement of one hundred transformers to ensure uninterrupted power supply across the state.

“Notably, we have electrified over 400 rural communities across the three senatorial zones, connecting them to the national grid. We have extended 33kV and 11kV distribution lines to underserved and insurgency-affected communities, including the restoration of power supply in Gujba East.

“A new feeder line has also been constructed from the 330/132/33kV transmission facility to ensure uninterrupted power supply to Yobe State University and the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital. In a historic move, we achieved the first-ever connection of Gulani Local Government Area to the national grid since its creation in 1991, while Kanama is nearing completion.

The effort he said is in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu energy reform agenda for a reliable, sustainable and affordable energy to all Nigerians.

The governor expressed the determination of the APC administration in the state to create a result oriented synergy with both public and private sector to build a sustainable and an all inclusive energy that would accommodate every community in the state.
