88 WOMEN KILLED IN 6 MONTHS- DOHS FOUNDATION CALLS FOR URGENT ACTION ON FEMICIDE………………

The DOHS Cares Foundation has reported that 88 Nigerian women were killed between January and June 2025, an average of one woman every 49 hours, due to gender-based violence.
Founder Ololade Ajayi described the killings as a national emergency, stressing that these were not just numbers but lives violently cut short. She criticized the culture of impunity and called for stronger enforcement of existing laws like the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act.
The Foundation is pushing for the Femicide Prohibition Bill to be introduced in the National Assembly, the recognition of femicide as a specific crime, and the creation of a national register to track cases and improve response.
Ajayi urged law enforcement to act swiftly on cases, and called on the judiciary, community, religious, and traditional leaders to take a stand against violence targeting women.
