REPS ADDRESS INSECURITY, CLIMATE CHANGE AND MALNUTRITION AT FOOD SECURITY SUMMIT……….

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The House of Representatives has reaffirmed its commitment to tackling food insecurity, climate change, and malnutrition in Nigeria.

Chairman of the House Committee on Nutrition and Food Security, Dr. Chike Okafor, made this known at a press briefing in Abuja while announcing a 3-day National Summit on Food Security and Nutrition.

He noted that despite several policies, millions, especially children under five, pregnant women, and rural communities still face hunger and malnutrition, worsened by insecurity, climate change, high inflation, and poor infrastructure.

The summit will bring together lawmakers, government officials, development partners, and private sector players to align efforts and improve accountability in nutrition programs.

Vice President Kashim Shettima is expected as Special Guest of Honour, while Speaker Abbas Tajudeen will serve as Chief Host.
