Police operatives in Anambra State have demobilized one armed criminal following a gun battle at Oko and Ekwulobia flyover in Aguata Local Government Area. Unfortunately, two civilians were caught in the crossfire and lost their lives.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, officers recovered an AK-47 rifle, a pump-action gun, and four vehicles at the scene.
The recovered vehicles include a red Toyota Camry (ENU 58 SC), a custom-colored GLK Mercedes Benz (no plate number), a gold Lexus 330 (ENU 815 AP), and an ash Toyota Highlander (GDD 517 RW). A brown Toyota Sienna, reportedly owned by the Anambra Vigilante Group, was also set ablaze by the criminals.
The bodies of the two victims have been taken to a nearby morgue.
In a separate incident, the Oko Divisional Police Headquarters was attacked, but officers on duty successfully repelled the assailants. No casualties were reported, and a joint security team is actively pursuing the attackers.
