Kwara State is set to become an export hub as the government partners with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to launch cargo services at Ilorin’s General Tunde Idiagbon International Airport.
The State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Afees Abolore, said the initiative will boost agricultural and industrial exports, open new markets, and increase earnings for farmers and businesses. He explained that the project will cut post-harvest losses, preserve product quality, and improve access to both domestic and international markets.
With congestion at Lagos ports and airports, Ilorin provides a strategic alternative for faster and more reliable trade. Airport Manager, Mr. Suraju Aderibigbe, added that the old terminal will be transformed into a modern cargo facility, creating jobs and driving economic growth in the state.
