NNPP SECURES VICTORY IN BAGWAI/SHANONO BYE-ELECTION……….

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), currently the ruling party in Kano State, has maintained its dominance by winning the Bagwai/Shanono State Assembly bye-election held on Saturday.

Its candidate, Ali Lawan Alhassan, was declared the winner after securing 16,198 votes, defeating his closest rival from the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 5,347 votes.

The results were officially announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer, Professor Hassan Adamu Shitu, around 12:36 a.m. on Sunday.

The bye-election became necessary following the death of the former lawmaker representing the constituency, which created a vacant seat in the Kano State House of Assembly.

With this win, the NNPP has further strengthened its political presence in Kano, a state where it already holds significant influence.
