POLICE NAB 333 OVER KANO ELECTION VIOLENCE…………..

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Kano State Police Command has arrested 333 people for disrupting Saturday’s re-run and by-elections in Ghari/Tsanyawa and Bagwai/Shanono constituencies.

Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, said the suspects were caught engaging in violence, intimidation, and destruction of election materials. Security agencies also recovered weapons, ballot papers, cash, and vehicles during the operation.

All suspects have been arraigned before various Magistrate Courts in Kano on charges including conspiracy, possession of weapons, and electoral offences.

CP Bakori praised security agencies for safeguarding voters and ensuring the polls were not derailed by political thugs. He urged residents to remain peaceful and law-abiding, stressing that protecting democracy is a shared responsibility.
