CUSTOMS GOES DIGITAL TO END CARGO CONGESTION

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) has launched a new digital system to speed up clearance and disposal of abandoned cargo at ports and terminals.

Comptroller-General Adewale Adeniyi, represented at the event, said the platform replaces delays with transparency by tracking every step online. Importers can now apply, monitor progress, and get approvals from anywhere, cutting corruption and freeing space at terminals.

Experts say the reform will boost Nigeria’s trade competitiveness under AfCFTA, while industry operators hailed it as a game-changer that will save businesses time and money.
