NAOWA HOLDS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS CAMPAIGN IN KADUNA

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA), One Division Chapter, has urged women to prioritize their health and embrace early detection of breast cancer.

Speaking at this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Week in Kaduna, Chairperson Dr. (Mrs.) Halima Bamanga Tafida-Wase said the campaign aims to break years of silence and ignorance surrounding the disease. She emphasized that breast cancer is not a death sentence but can be treated when discovered early.

Dr. Wase encouraged women to carry out regular self-examinations and seek medical help for any unusual changes, adding that collective effort is needed to create a supportive and hopeful community for women.

Also speaking, Dr. Rabi’a Adam of Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital revealed that one in every four women is affected by breast cancer and urged proactive health checks.

The event, themed “My Breast and I,” was attended by wives of soldiers, senior officers, and female staff of One Division.
