The Nigeria Customs Service, Kebbi Area Command, has intercepted a tanker truck carrying 60,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) suspected of diversion.
The State Comptroller, Compt. Mahmoud Matawalle Ibrahim, officially handed over the seized truck to the Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) at the command’s headquarters in Birnin Kebbi.
He explained that investigations revealed the fuel was originally meant for delivery in Borno State, prompting its detention. The move aligns with the efforts of Operation Whirlwind, led by ACG Dr. Kola Oladeji, to promote transparency and inter-agency collaboration in handling petroleum-related offenses.
In recent weeks, similar operations have seen the handover of two trucks with 105,000 litres of PMS in Sokoto, the auction of 14,000 litres in Lagos, and the sealing of a petrol station in Ogun State, all in line with the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi’s commitment to synergy among sister agencies.
Receiving the truck, Mr. Jamilu Adamu, Deputy Manager (M3), confirmed that a detailed report will be sent to NMDPRA headquarters for further action.
