Five House of Representatives members from Enugu State have left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing their desire to align with Governor Peter Mbah’s vision for transforming the state and linking it to national growth.
The lawmakers, Chidi Obetta, Anayo Onwuegbu, Dennis Agbo, Oke Martins, and Nnolim Nnaji, made their defection official through letters read by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen during plenary.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Nnolim Nnaji said their move was a “bold step” to end Enugu’s years in opposition and ensure the state takes part in shaping Nigeria’s future. He praised Governor Mbah’s achievements in education, aviation, technology, and security, calling him a “visionary leader.”
They vowed to support Mbah and bring more projects, jobs, and infrastructure to their constituencies through closer ties with the APC-led federal government.
Governor Peter Mbah and APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, witnessed the defection at the House chamber.
