NCPC URGES U.S. TO SUPPORT NIGERIA WITH AID, NOT MILITARY THREATS

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) has urged the United States and its allies to collaborate with Nigeria through intelligence sharing, counterterrorism training, and humanitarian aid instead of threatening military action.

Executive Secretary of the Commission, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, made the call in Abuja, stressing that Nigeria faces security challenges, not a religious war.

He cautioned that foreign military intervention or misleading narratives could destabilize the West African region, adding that portraying Nigeria’s crisis as a “Christian genocide” is dangerous and divisive.

Bishop Adegbite said the ongoing insecurity is driven by terrorism and criminality, not religion, noting that the government has intensified operations against insurgents and bandits.

He also reaffirmed that Christian and Muslim leaders under the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council remain united in promoting peace and rejecting violence.
