By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has reunited 24 rescued schoolgirls of Maga Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School with their families. The handover ceremony took place at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi, attended by parents, officials, and well-wishers.

Governor Idris praised the bravery and dedication of security personnel involved in the rescue, and thanked the people of Kebbi for their prayers and support. He also acknowledged President Bola Tinubu’s timely intervention, as well as the efforts of the Defence Minister and the National Security Adviser, which were crucial to the girls’ safe return.

The governor assured that all the girls are in good health and were unharmed during captivity, urging parents to allow them to continue their education, which is free from primary to tertiary levels in Kebbi State.

Speaking on behalf of other parents, Malam Illiyasu Garba, whose four daughters were among those abducted, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the governor for his unwavering support throughout the ordeal.
