The House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on the Naira-for-Crude-Oil Policy has directed the EFCC to submit clear, complete records of all crude oil seizures and sales made under its watch. Chairman Emerengwa Boniface Sunday issued the order during an investigative hearing in Abuja.
EFCC representative Francis Usani admitted the agency had no direct investigations tied to the Naira-for-Crude policy, explaining that its submission only covered referrals received since 2003. Lawmakers questioned missing details in the EFCC’s documents, including blank entries for crude volume and grade, and challenged the Commission for not probing the policy more proactively.
The committee stressed that the probe aims to uphold transparency, not target any institution, and reaffirmed the National Assembly’s commitment to accountability in managing Nigeria’s economic policies.
