WIKE THREATENS SANCTIONS OVER UNAPPROVED SCHOOL CLOSURES IN FCT

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has vowed strict disciplinary action against officials who issued an unauthorized directive to shut down schools in the FCT. He expressed shock that the notice was released without his approval, leading to the suspension of the Education Mandate Secretary. Wike stressed that no such decision can be taken without presidential briefing and confirmed that involved directors will face sanctions.

During an inspection of infrastructure projects in Guzape II, he reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to completing stalled projects to expand Abuja and ensure property owners gain access to their plots. He also noted that those affected by ongoing construction will receive proper compensation and relocation.
