The Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, alongside the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has hosted frontline troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA at a special Christmas luncheon in Giginya Cantonment, Sokoto State.

The visit was aimed at boosting morale and appreciating the sacrifices of troops deployed in the North West. Addressing officers and soldiers, the CDS conveyed warm Christmas greetings and commended their courage, discipline and dedication, especially as many Nigerians marked the festive season with their families.

General Oluyede praised the operational successes recorded under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, noting that the efforts of the troops have helped to restore confidence and improve security across the North West and neighbouring areas. He reassured personnel that their welfare remains a top priority and urged them to remain vigilant during the festive period.

The Chief of Army Staff described the luncheon as a tradition to honour the resilience and professionalism of troops in active operations. He urged them to reflect on the season with gratitude while remembering fallen heroes whose sacrifices continue to strengthen national security.

Both Service Chiefs reaffirmed the commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to protecting the nation’s peace and unity, while wishing the troops a Merry Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous New Year.
