FG DISMISSES FABRICATED ALLEGATIONS OF TARGETING OPPOSITION

The Federal Government of Nigeria has firmly rejected claims that it plans to arrest, detain, or prosecute opposition figures. The reaction follows the circulation of a fake document alleging the creation of a so-called multi-agency task force and a fictitious programme tagged “ADP4VIP.”
Government sources describe the document as deliberate disinformation, stressing that no such programme or task force exists. The narrative suggesting a coordinated effort to target opposition politicians, including members of the ADC, is false and misleading.
The Tinubu Administration maintains that its focus remains on governance priorities—economic reform, improved security, trade expansion, and restoring investor confidence. Attempts to frame lawful accountability as political persecution are viewed as tactics to distract the public and shield individuals from the rule of law.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to constitutional democracy, due process, and fundamental freedoms guaranteed under the 1999 Constitution. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a long-standing democrat, remains committed to protecting political rights while ensuring that security and anti-corruption agencies operate independently and professionally.
Nigerians are urged to be cautious of fake news and politically motivated fabrications, especially as the country moves closer to the 2027 general elections. The administration insists it will remain focused on delivering stability, progress, and tangible results for citizens, rather than engaging in endless political drama.
