NAPTIP BUSTS TRAFFICKING RING, RESCUES VICTIMS IN ANAMBRA

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), with military support, has raided a hotel in the 3-3 area of Onitsha, Anambra State, arresting suspects linked to human trafficking and baby trading while rescuing several victims.

NAPTIP said the operation followed credible intelligence about underage girls being exploited at the facility. Some of the rescued victims are battling serious health challenges and are currently receiving counselling and medical support with help from partner agencies.

The Director-General of NAPTIP, Binta Adamu Bello, condemned the abuse and obstruction of medical care by traffickers, assuring that a manhunt is ongoing and the hotel owner has been invited for questioning as the agency intensifies its crackdown nationwide.
