GOMBE GOVT MOVES TO BOOST WATER SUPPLY

The Gombe State Government has intensified efforts to address persistent water supply challenges across the state, citing growing demand and infrastructure constraints.
Commissioner for Water, Environment and Forest Resources, Muhammad Fawu, said the government is adopting short-, medium- and long-term measures to improve access to potable water for residents. He explained that while dams and treatment plants are functional, irregular power supply continues to hinder effective pumping and distribution.
Officials of the Tunisian Company for African Development, who were invited by the state government to assess the situation, said plans are underway to recommend sustainable solutions, including improved power support for water facilities. The delegation expressed optimism that enhanced energy supply and modern technology would significantly improve water distribution in the state.
