A member of the House of Representatives, Aminu Sani Jaji, has called on the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress to cancel the recently concluded ward and local government congresses in Zamfara State, insisting that the process lacked fairness and internal democracy.
Speaking to journalists in Gusau, Jaji described the February congresses as flawed, alleging that genuine party members were excluded while the exercise was manipulated by committees sent from Abuja in collaboration with certain individuals within the state. He claimed many APC members who properly purchased nomination forms were denied participation, raising serious questions about transparency.
The lawmaker further alleged that the congresses were conducted without broad member involvement and even featured individuals linked to opposition parties such as the Peoples Democratic Party, a situation he said damaged the credibility of the exercise and violated the party’s constitution.
To rebuild trust and unity within the party in Zamfara State, Jaji urged the APC National Working Committee to dissolve the current state executive and organise a fresh, inclusive congress. He also appealed to Bello Matawalle to intervene and help resolve the growing internal crisis.
Jaji called on party members to remain calm as they await decisive action from the APC leadership, stressing that only a transparent process can prevent a repeat of past electoral setbacks.
