DANGOTE INCREASES ETHIOPIA FERTILISER PROJECT INVESTMENT TO $4BN

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

President of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, has increased the investment value of the company’s fertiliser plant project in Ethiopia from $2.5 billion to over $4 billion.

Dangote received a warm welcome in Gode, Ethiopia, during a visit to the construction site of the proposed fertiliser facility alongside Ethiopian Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed.

The expanded investment is expected to cover additional infrastructure linked to the project, including a pipeline, power plant and fertiliser blending facility.

The fertiliser plant, which is being developed through a joint venture between Dangote Group and Ethiopian Investment Holdings, is projected to produce three million metric tonnes of urea annually upon completion.

Speaking during the visit, Prime Minister Abiy described the project as a strategic investment that would strengthen Ethiopia’s agricultural sector, reduce dependence on imports and create jobs for citizens.

The Dangote Group said the development further demonstrates its commitment to industrial growth and economic development across Africa.
