SSANU AND NASU MEMBERS PROTEST UNPAID ARREARS ON TUESDAY                                                                                           09-07-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                   The members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), on Tuesday, embarked on nationwide protests in the universities campuses to demand the immediate release of their withheld salaries.

Protesting members of the two unions gathered at the entrance of the University of Abuja to demand for the release of the four months withheld salaries.

The union members called on the Federal Government to release their withheld salaries and implement their other demands.

The protests followed the expiration of a two-week ultimatum handed by NASU and SSANU to the Federal Government in June.

All the unions had embarked on an eight-month strike in 2022 to press home some of their demands including a better welfare package.
