NECO RELEASES RESULT OF THE 2024 NATIONAL COMMON ENTRANCE EXAMINATION, NCEE INTO THE 115 FEDERAL UNITY SCHOOLS                                                                                                                            16-07-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                 The National Examination Council, NECO has released the result of the 2024 National Common Entrance Examination, NCEE into the 115 federal Unity schools.

Announcing the result at a news briefing in Abuja, the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Sununu said 71,291 candidates registered for examination, out of which, 66,931 candidates sat for the examination and 4,360 were absent.

The Minister explained that out of the maximum obtainable score of 210, one candidate obtained the highest score of 203, while 13 candidates obtained the lowest score of 1.

Dr. Sununu stated that results of 52 candidates were held over examination malpractice.

”This year, an unprecedented number of 52 candidates (2 candidates from Lagos State and 50 candidates from Rivers State) were involved in examination malpractice. Their result is withheld and all necessary steps would be followed to ensure that where there is actual malpractice, total cancellation would be the thing to do”

For the Federal Government Academy, the Minister said 2,649 candidates registered for the examination out of which 2,336 candidates sat for the examination and 313 candidates were absent.

Dr. Sununu told journalists that the highest score was 180 while the lowest was 5.

The Minister said the criteria for selection of qualified candidates into Federal Unity Colleges are: 60% Merit; 30% Equality of State; and 10% Exigency.

Dr. Sununu therefore directed the Department of Senior Secondary Education to ensure that all admission processes were concluded timely and in line with the criteria.

The 2024 National Common Entrance Examination took place last month in Nigeria, as well as Benin Republic and Togo.
