BAUCHI STATE INAUGURATES 500 BAROTA CADETS TO TACKLE ROAD TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS 06-01-25
By Sadiq Aminu The Bauchi State Government has inaugurated the first batch of 500 cadets and marshals of the Bauchi State Road Traffic Agency BAROTA to address widespread road traffic violations and enhance road safety across the state.
This is part of the state government commitment aimed at engaging over two thousand unemployed youth towards complementing the effort of traffic law enforcement agencies.
At the passing-out parade held at the Rilwanu Sulaimanu Adamu Square, Government House Bauchi, Governor Bala Mohammed outlined the agency’s responsibilities to include removing and impounding vehicles obstructing highways and arresting road traffic violators.
Others are Ensuring smooth traffic flow in urban centers and major towns as well as promoting road safety awareness among residents.
Governor Mohammed assured the public that BAROTA would be provided with sufficient vehicles and other operational facilities to ensure efficiency. He urged the cadets to work closely with conventional security agencies to maintain order and safety on the roads.
The Director General of BAROTA, Retired Air Commodore Ahmed Tijjani Baba Gamawa, and the Sector Commandant of the Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC Istifanus Ibrahim expressed confidence that the agency would significantly improve road safety and traffic management in the state.
They also cautioned the newly recruited officers against indiscipline, laxity, and unprofessional conduct.
The State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers NURTW, Abubakar Babawo, pledged the union’s support for BAROTA’s activities and commitment to improving road safety.
The event featured a regimental parade and the decoration of senior officers, marking the official commencement of BAROTA’s operations.
