FEDERAL CAPITAL TERRITORY SECURES APPROVAL FROM THE FEDERAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL TO EMBARK ON 5 INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT IN VARIOUS AREAS                                                                                    04-02-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                  The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, has secured approval from the Federal Executive Council, FEC, to embark on 5 infrastructure development in various areas.

The Minister of State for the FCT, Hajia Mariya Mahmoud, said the projects included the provision of access road to Bus Terminal at Mabushi, costing about 31 billion Naira, to be completed in 18 months.

“The second memo was for approval for the award of contract for the development of the road from Wuye District ring road II within the Federal Capital City, in the sum of 62,502,420,795 Naira, with a completion period of 20 months.

The third memo was approval for the award of contract for the construction of KUJE/Gwagwalada Dual Carriage Way in the FCT, under the Satellite Development Department of the FCT Administration, in the sum of N7,495,856,181.20”, she added.

Hajia Mariya said they had also obtained approval to award a 27 billion Naira contract for the rehabilitation of the 15-kilometre old Keffi road, starting from Kado village to Dei Dei by outer modern expressway junction, to be completed in18 months.

Also approved is the provisional access road to the Renewed Hope Cities and Estate project within the cadasdral zone and the Karsana west District, to be completed in 18 months at over 31 billion Naira.

FEC equally approved the establishment of Creative and Tourism Infrastructure Corporation to invest and develop Nigeria’s Creative and Tourism industry.

The Minister, Hannatu Musawa, told newsmen that infrastructure would be established under a Piblic-Private-Partnership arrangement.

“The establishment of this creative and tourism infrastructure corporation is a special purpose vehicle under a PPP framework that will allow us to identify and to deploy and finance critical infrastructure needs in the creative industry. At the moment, there’s a lot of interest in Nigeria, not because of anything, but because of our context and because of our creativity”, the Minister explained.

She said the objective was to promote Nigeria’s cultural heritage and use it as a tool for growth.
