WORKERS IN NASSARAWA STATE-OWNED TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS HAVE SUSPENDED THEIR TWO-WEEK WARNING STRIKE                                                                                                     15-02-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                   A statement from the Chairman of the Joint Unions of Nasarawa State Tertiary Institutions, Comrade Gbande Samson Kale, says the decision follows the intervention of the state government to allow for smooth negotiations.

However, the unions warn that the strike will resume indefinitely after one week if the government fails to meet their demands, particularly the payment of promotion arrears and the full implementation of the National Minimum Wage.

The statement also directs all affected workers to return to their duties immediately, pending the outcome of negotiations.

The strike, which began on Monday, affected institutions such as Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic Lafia, the College of Agriculture, Science and Technology Lafia, and the College of Education Akwanga.

The workers had downed tools over welfare concerns, including unpaid promotion arrears and the non-implementation of the minimum wage.
