GOVERNOR DAUDA LAWAL SWEARS IN NEW HEAD OF CIVIL SERVICE AND 12 PERMANENT SECRETARIES IN ZAMFARA 08-03-25
By Sadiq Aminu Governor Dauda Lawal has officially sworn in Yakubu Sani Haidara as the new Head of the Civil Service of Zamfara State, along with 12 newly appointed permanent secretaries.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the old chamber of the Government House in Gusau.
Speaking at the event, Governor Lawal stated that Haidara’s appointment was based on his competence and dedication to public service.
He urged him to leverage his experience to enhance efficiency, productivity, and service delivery in the state’s civil service.
“You are entrusted with supervising the Permanent Secretaries and the entire civil service to ensure that government policies and programs are effectively formulated and implemented,” the governor said.
Governor Lawal emphasized that the appointment of the permanent secretaries followed a rigorous and transparent selection process.
This included an intensive refresher course, written exams, oral interviews, ICT-based assessments, and a final professional evaluation conducted by the Public Service Institute of Nigeria (PSIN).
He explained that the decision to reform the appointment process was driven by the state government’s commitment to upholding merit and best practices, rather than arbitrary selections.
“Having taken the oath of office as Permanent Secretaries of the Zamfara State Government, you must understand that your role is crucial to the successful implementation of this administration’s objectives,” he said.
The governor expressed confidence in the appointees’ abilities, stating, “I believe that with your intellect and proven capacities, you will rise to the occasion with diligence and a sense of responsibility.”
He further reminded them of their duties as accounting officers in their respective ministries, urging them to align their actions with his administration’s six-point agenda.
Stressing that all policies and programs under their supervision must contribute to the government’s mission of delivering good governance to the people of Zamfara State.
Additionally, Governor Lawal has announced the establishment of the Coordinator of Donor Activities and Programs Office under the Executive Governor’s Office.
The newly created office will be headed by a Permanent Secretary who will report directly to the governor.
The primary role of this office will be to coordinate all donor and development partner activities and programs in collaboration with relevant ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) to ensure effective implementation.
