MINISTER OF JUSTICE SAYS THE DECISION TO DECLARE A STATE OF EMERGENCY IN RIVERS STATE IS IN THE INTEREST OF PEACE                                                                                                21-03-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                     Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN SAYS the Federal government took the decision to declare a state of emergency in Rivers state, in the best interest of the people of the state and the country.

Briefing newsmen in Abuja today, Prince Fagemi emphasized that if after six months the situation normalizes other considerations would be made.

The minister dismissed claims that the president was acting the script of the Minister of the FCT, Mr Nyesome Wike, emphasizing that the supreme court judgment clearly found Governor Fubara wanting on about eleven grounds

Prince Fagbemi explained that the National Assembly has about 48 hours to either endorse or veto the declaration by the president.
