HISBAH BOARD DEBUNKS EX-INMATE’S ABUSE CLAIM, LABELS ALLEGATIONS AS FRAUDULENT………..

The Kano State Hisbah commander General Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa has firmly denied allegations made by Usman, a recently released inmate, who claimed there was widespread abuse of rape, and inhumane treatment at the Goron Dutse Correctional Centre.

In a video statement, Hisbah revealed that a thorough investigation was launched at the directive of the state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf. The team, led by Aminuddeen, visited the prison facility, interviewed staff, officials, and inmates, and found no evidence to support Usman’s accusations.

“Nothing he said is true. There was no evidence of rape, hunger, or abuse. His story was to generate controversy and damage the reputation of our state,” Aminudeen stated.

The board described Usman’s claims as entirely fabricated and consistent with a history of deceit and fraudulent behavior. Aminuddeen disclosed that Usman, also known as Ali, had previously approached the Hisbah Board under a false identity, claiming to convert to Islam as part of a ploy to solicit support and defraud others.

“He claimed his name was Usman and pretended to convert to Islam. Later, we found out his real name is Ali, and he had stolen items donated to support his wedding. Several fraud complaints have been filed against him over the years,” Aminuddeen added.

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Kano State Command, had earlier denied Usman’s claim of spending nine years at Goron Dutse, stating he was held for only a few months at Kurmawa Custodial Centre on unrelated charges.

Aminuddeen cautioned the public against spreading unverified claims, urging social media users to act responsibly and assuring that the board would continue investigations and ensure accountability.
