KANO STATE GOVERNOR VOWS TO CURB THUGGERY, PHONE SNATCHING                                                                        20-06-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                      Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has pledged to tackle the growing menace of thuggery and phone snatching in the state.

The governor made this commitment while addressing the people of Kano shortly after returning from Saudi Arabia, where he performed the Hajj pilgrimage.

Governor Yusuf stated that his administration would continue to initiate various schemes to empower youths through skills acquisition training and provide them with starter packs to become self-employed.

This, he said, would help reduce the rate of unemployment and poverty in the state, which he believes is a major contributor to the rise in thuggery and other social vices.

The governor expressed his dismay at the activities of some individuals who are secretly sponsoring thuggery in the state.

He alleged that these individuals are against the development of the state and are using thuggery as a means to destabilize the government.

Governor Yusuf warned that his administration would no longer tolerate such attitudes and would go after the sponsors of thuggery.

The governor solicited the support of traditional rulers, ulamas, and the general populace in the fight against drug addiction, thuggery, and phone snatching.

He emphasized that achieving the desired outcome would require a collaborative effort from all stakeholders.

Governor Yusuf called on the people of Kano to report any information about thuggery and phone snatching to the authorities.
