MINISTER DECLARES ADMISSIONS OUTSIDE CAPS ILLEGAL……

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Minister of Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa, has declared all admissions conducted outside the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) as illegal.

Speaking at the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions in Abuja, he said CAPS was introduced to ensure transparency and integrity in the admission process. He warned that any institution or individual found violating this would face penalties and prosecution.

Dr. Alausa also reaffirmed that the minimum age for tertiary admission remains 16, stressing that underage admissions will attract sanctions.

He called on all stakeholders to strictly follow admission guidelines to maintain the quality of education in Nigeria.
