By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Kano State Government has launched a 4-day training workshop for 132 Senior Special Reporters (SSRs) and Special Reporters (SRs) to improve public information sharing.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, represented by the Head of Service, described the training as a “call to service” and emphasized the importance of transparent and ethical communication in governance.

The Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ibrahim Waiya, said this is the 6th such training since January 2025, with over ₦116 million invested so far. He noted that the reporters play a vital role in shaping public perception, especially through their digital reach.

The workshop, themed “Updating Basic Mass Communication Skills for Enhanced Government Communication”, is organized in partnership with the International Institute of Journalism (IIJ) and led by experts from Bayero University Kano.

The goal is to equip participants with better storytelling, technical, and ethical skills for more impactful communication across Kano State.
