NASARAWA NLC PUSHES FOR BETTER PAY AMID RISING HARDSHIP

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Nasarawa State has urged the government to urgently review workers’ welfare, saying the current minimum wage no longer matches the rising cost of living.

State Secretary, Comrade Ahmed Naibi, speaking in Lafia, said that despite the ₦70,000 minimum wage introduced in December 2025, civil servants continue to struggle under worsening economic conditions.

He called on Governor Abdullahi Sule to emulate other states that have increased wages and extend the new pay to retirees and staff of tertiary institutions. Naibi stressed that workers fully support the NLC’s national demand for a fresh wage review.
