REPS QUERY SLOW 2024-2025 BUDGET IMPLEMENTATION

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The House of Representatives has raised concerns about the pace of the 2024–2025 budget implementation. After a closed-door meeting with Finance Minister Wale Edun and Budget Minister Atiku Bagudu, lawmakers stressed that Nigerians were worried about the impact of government spending.

Committee Chairman Abubakar Bichi said the ministers assured that visible results would be seen before the end of the year. Edun revealed that about 80% of the 2024 budget had been implemented, with focus on grassroots projects and infrastructure. He added there were no plans for a supplementary 2025 budget.

Bagudu praised the National Assembly–Executive relationship and highlighted progress under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
