NIGERIA’S AGRIC MINISTER EMERGES IFAD COUNCIL CHAIR

Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, has been appointed Chairman of the 49th Governing Council of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
Speaking at the IFAD Governing Council meeting in Rome, Senator Kyari pledged to lead with unity, inclusiveness and strategic focus, while strengthening multilateral cooperation and protecting the credibility of the institution. He reaffirmed his commitment to driving impactful policies that support smallholder farmers, women, youth and vulnerable rural communities across continents.
The Minister also acknowledged the support of President Bola Tinubu, noting that Nigeria’s renewed focus on agriculture and food security has strengthened its voice and leadership in global development efforts.
