TINUBU UNVEILS 2026–2030 NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN, TASKS STATES ON GRASSROOTS GROWTH

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has launched the Renewed Hope National Development Plan for 2026–2030, marking a shift from economic recovery to a new phase of national transformation.

Speaking at the National Economic Council Conference in Abuja, the President urged states to drive inclusive, bottom-up growth that directly impacts communities at the grassroots. He stressed that the success of the plan depends on effective implementation by state and local governments, noting that growth must be shared, sustainable and people-focused.

President Tinubu highlighted improved fiscal support to subnational governments and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to empowering local communities as engines of national development. He called on governors to move beyond policy declarations to action, adding that Nigeria’s diversity remains a key strength for collective progress.

Vice President Kashim Shettima emphasized that economic growth must translate into real improvements in the lives of citizens, while other stakeholders commended the plan as a pathway to inclusive growth and long-term prosperity.
