APC LAWMAKER YUSUF GAGDI LOSES RE-ELECTION TICKET IN PLATEAU

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

A political upset unfolded in Plateau State on Saturday as serving House of Representatives member, Yusuf Gagdi, lost the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the 2027 general election.

Gagdi, who currently represents Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, was defeated by John Tonshinen during the party’s primary election conducted across the constituency.

The result was announced by the APC electoral committee led by Daspan Ishaya after the conclusion of the exercise in Pankshin, Kanke and Kanam Local Government Areas.

Tonshinen’s victory sparked celebrations among his supporters, who described the outcome as a significant political shift in the constituency ahead of the next general election.

Gagdi’s loss is considered one of the major surprises recorded during the APC House of Representatives primaries in Plateau State.
