APC CLEARS YAHAYA BELLO, OTHER ASPIRANTS FOR KOGI SENATORIAL PRIMARIES

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, and other aspirants to participate in the party’s senatorial primaries scheduled to hold on Monday in Kogi State.

The party’s National Assembly screening committee approved 17 aspirants across the three senatorial districts of the state ahead of the exercise.

Yahaya Bello, whose eligibility had generated speculation in recent days, was officially listed among the cleared aspirants for the Kogi Central Senatorial District race. The former governor is expected to contest the party’s ticket alongside other contenders in the district.

In Kogi West, incumbent Senator Sunday Karimi emerged as the consensus candidate following a stakeholders’ meeting chaired by Governor Usman Ododo at the Government House in Lokoja.

Although other aspirants were also cleared for the contest, Karimi is widely regarded as the leading contender following the consensus arrangement reached by party stakeholders.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also concluded its House of Representatives primaries in Kogi State, with several candidates emerging through consensus across different federal constituencies.
