Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 10 abducted persons during separate operations in Zamfara State.
The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
Danja said the first operation took place in Kade Daba Village, Kanoma District, in Maru Local Government Area, after troops responded to a distress call.
He said the troops engaged the suspected terrorists in a gun battle and rescued four abducted villagers during the operation and subsequent search of the area.
In a separate operation along the Tsafe-Funtua road in Tsafe Local Government Area, troops intercepted another group of suspected terrorists at Kwanoni.
Danja said the suspects had set a Sharon vehicle ablaze after its occupants fled, but were forced to retreat following an exchange of fire with the troops.
He added that six occupants of another vehicle that lost control during the shooting were rescued and the vehicle was towed away to restore the flow of traffic.
The Theatre Commander of Operation FANSAN YAMMA commended the troops for their swift response and professionalism, while urging residents to provide security agencies with timely and credible information.
