The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, has urged youths to work closely with the police to tackle insecurity and promote peace across the state.

Adekimi made the appeal during the 2026 Police-Youth Interactive Forum, themed “The Police and You,” organised by the Kwara State Police Command at Peace Hotel Hall, Tanke, Ilorin.

He said the forum was aimed at strengthening police-community relations and encouraging young people to take an active role in maintaining security.

The commissioner reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism and other criminal activities, while ensuring the protection of lives and property.

He stressed that effective policing required public cooperation, professionalism and respect for citizens’ rights, urging youths to report suspicious activities and support security agencies in their communities.

Also speaking, legal practitioner Adekunle Iwalaye highlighted the constitutional duties of the police and the fundamental rights of citizens, calling for greater public awareness and accountability in law enforcement.

The forum also addressed issues such as drug abuse, cybercrime, financial fraud, police misconduct and electoral offences, with participants given the opportunity to engage security stakeholders on ways to improve public safety and promote peaceful elections.
