COAS/BORNO: BORNO PLEDGE MORE SUPPORT TO NIGERIA…………….

The Borno State government has pledged to continue to support the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in the counter insurgency and counter terrorism operation in the state.

The state Deputy Governor Alhaji Usman Kadafur made the pledge when he received on a courtesy visit, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja at the Government House Maiduguri.

Kadafur commended the military for the immense progress recorded in the fight against insurgency and resettlement of displaced persons.

He also acknowledged the contribution of the Nigerian Army in Deradicalisation and Demobilisation programme of the state government, noting that the mass surrender of the repentant insurgents has brought stability in the state.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, said he is on an operational visit to the Theatre Command , formations and units under Operation Hadin Kai.

He attributed the stability achieved in the fight against insurgency to the enormous support Borno State Government is providing to the Nigerian Army.

General Lagbaja appreciated the recent donation of security vehicles, motorcycles, equipments to the military which will in no small measure improve their operations.

The Chief of Army Staff commended the effort of security personnel including Civilian JTF and people of the State, assuring that the Military would continue to put in their best to ensure that lasting peace is restored to the state.
