ABIA STATE GOVERNMENT SEALS UP 190 SUBSTANDARD PRIVATE SCHOOLS IN THE STATE                                                                                                       14-11-23                   By Sadiq Aminu                                                     The Commissioner for Information and culture, Prince Okey Kanu, who announced this during a media briefing on the outcome of this weeks Executive Council Meeting presided over by the Governor Alex Otti, said nine hundred private schools were inspected during the exercise.

Price Kanu maintained that inspection was part of the reform initiative in the education sector to enhance standards, including in private schools operating in the state.

On health, the Commissioner explained that over eight thousand residents of the state had benefitted from the ongoing free medical services offered by the state government, stressing that the state government had fixed a cottage hospital in Abayi, Aba for public use.

While reacting to a recent publicized caretaker committee list in the state, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Uzo Nwachukwu, said the names were carefully chosen by the governor after wide consultations.

On the suspension of over 300 teachers employed in 2012 in the state, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma, said the governor had requested for the list of teachers who are still alive and pledged that the state government would come up with true position on the matter to ameliorate their situation.
