By Sadiq Aminu                                                    This edition of international conference of state parties on UN convention against corruption (COSP10) was held in Atlanta, USA. The deputy commandant general of narcotics of NDLEA Dr Ibrahim Abdul spoke on behalf of the minister of Justice of the federation in one of the side events in company of the solicitor General Mrs Beatrice Jeddy-agba, the EFCC chairman Ola Olukoyode at the conference.

Dr Ibrahim recounts the challenges and successes recorded in the fight against corruption in the country, enumerated secrecy policy, immunity, and denial of access as some of the stumbling blocks faced by the country in fighting corruption. In his speech he stated that Nigeria is more serious at recovery of looted fund especially with the enactment of proceeds of money laundering act, law prohibition act and terrorism prohibition act.

He appreciated the laudable contribution of the civil society organisations and NGOs such as African Network of Environment and Economic Justice (ANEEJ) in the supervision and monitoring of the proceeds.

While thanking the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the FRENCH governments for their support hr assured them that proceeds from corruption have been judiciously expended to the victims of corruption particularly the poor and the vulnerables in the rural areas of the country.
